Mercer Transportation’s Adventure at the Iowa 80 Truck Show

As the summer sun began to rise, a sense of excitement filled the air at Mercer Transportation. Our team was gearing up for an unforgettable journey to the Iowa 80 Truck Show, an event that promised not only incredible trucks but also a celebration of the trucking community. This year marked the 60th anniversary of Iowa 80 Truckstop and the 45th annual Trucker’s Jamboree, held from July 11-13 at the sprawling complex off I-80 Exit 284 in Walcott, Iowa.

The Journey Begins: From Kentucky to the Iowa 80 Truck Stop

Blake Caudill, Tim Pike, Dale Keilhorn, and Paul Johnson set off from Kentucky, their spirits high and their mission clear: to connect with as many drivers as possible. The open road stretched before them, a ribbon of adventure leading to Iowa. Along the way, the team bonded over stories, laughter, and the anticipation of the event.

Rolling into the Iowa 80 Truckstop was like stepping into a world of wonder. The sight of gleaming trucks, the aroma of sizzling Iowa Porkchops, and the hum of excitement created an atmosphere of pure magic. Our team was ready to dive in and make the most of every moment.

First on the agenda was indulging in the incredible food that Iowa 80 is famous for. From hearty BBQ to mouth-watering local delicacies, each meal was a culinary delight. The team savored every bite, fueling up for the busy days ahead.

Connecting with Owner-Operators

With warm smiles and firm handshakes, Blake, Tim, Dale, and Paul got to work. They mingled with amazing owner-operators, sharing the benefits of joining the Mercer family. Each conversation was a chance to build relationships, understand the needs of potential drivers, and showcase what Mercer Transportation has to offer.

The Thrill of the Trucks

The team was elated by the array of trucks on display. From antique beauties to super trucks in the beauty contest, the craftsmanship and pride of the owners were evident. It was a feast for the eyes and a testament to the passion that drives the trucking community.

Celebrating 60 Years of Iowa 80

This year’s Trucker’s Jamboree was extra special as it marked 60 years of Iowa 80 serving professional drivers and travelers. With well-lit parking spaces for 900 tractor-trailers, 250 cars, and 20 buses, the facility continues to be a beacon for the trucking community, serving over 5,000 customers per day.
