Big Snack Day: Building Bridges and Healthy Habits at Mercer Transportation

At Mercer Transportation, we believe that a strong team is the foundation of our success. That’s why we’ve been busy all summer long, hosting our popular Big Snack Day in Building 4—affectionately known as “The Barn.” This event has quickly become a favorite among our staff, and for good reason!

Our campus is vast, with over 20 buildings, and events like Big Snack Day are a fantastic way to bring everyone together. This time around, we served up a delicious and nutritious spread featuring broccoli, peppers, beef sticks, cheeses, yogurt, carrots, raisins, and walnuts. As the staff entered The Barn in droves, the energy was contagious. Some people stayed to chat and mingle with colleagues from other buildings, while others played snack courier, collecting food for their desk buddies. No matter how they participated, everyone walked away with a healthy, tasty treat.

What makes Big Snack Day truly special isn’t just the food—it’s the sense of community and connection it fosters. Employees like Justin Bosch couldn’t help but express their gratitude. “It makes me feel good,” he shared when asked how it feels to work for a company that’s genuinely invested in his physical and mental well-being. Jackie Taylor echoed this sentiment, adding, “It makes you feel appreciated. Like they want you to be here a long time.” And who could argue with Erin Wise’s assessment? “It’s good for your brain,” she said with a smile, referring to the brain-boosting benefits of our snack offerings.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! We’re also in the middle of a company-wide walking challenge, and it’s clear that our team is fully embracing the opportunity to prioritize their health. Events like Big Snack Day are more than just a chance to grab a bite—they’re a way for us to grow together as a team, strengthening the bonds that make Mercer such a great place to work.

We encourage everyone to keep up the momentum, not just at our events but in your daily routines. Healthy habits start here, but they don’t have to end when you leave The Barn. Whether you’re grabbing a handful of walnuts at your desk or taking a walk during your lunch break, every small step counts. If you’re looking for tips on how to build some more fruitful habits, check out the BluMine Clinic website for various different resources.

So, let’s keep building those bridges, strengthening our team, and prioritizing our health—together. Here’s to many more Big Snack Days and the vibrant, connected community we’re creating at Mercer Transportation!
