Our History

Back in 1977, Mercer Transportation started with some pretty simple goals: We wanted to provide some of the best customer service in the industry at fair rates – more importantly we wanted to be the safest carrier in the industry. And when it came to owner-operators, the backbone of this industry, we wanted to provide them with a place where they could be successful in building their own businesses. Soon after start up we leased our first owner-operator.

Since those humble beginnings, we’ve grown to a fleet of over 2200 owner-operator’s trucks and we’ve shipped millions of loads across North America with an emphasis on quality service and on-time delivery. We have remained true to those values, providing exceptional customer service to the Department of Defense and hundreds of America’s biggest corporations. Trusted by the DoD and Fortune 500 customers from coast to coast, yet nimble enough to meet the needs of the smallest of businesses, Mercer Transportation has the ability to adapt to the needs of our customers and independent contractors alike.

Over the decades, we’ve earned the respect of owner operators, independent carriers and  customers all across North America. We have expanded our capabilities from our roots as a flatbed carrier, to OD loads and cross-border shipments and now to a large dry van carrier. A lot of things change over the years but one thing has not: at Mercer, we are driven for success.
